RSF therefore urges the Australian authorities to change course and to abandon any planned legislation that would allow them to access individual user data.“Such legislation would violate the public’s right to privacy and would pose a danger to the confidentiality of journalists’ sources and whistleblowers,” said Elodie Vialle, the head of RSF’s Journalism and Technology Bureau. “Freedom of information must not be sacrificed to the fight against terrorism. The authorities must not be allowed to spy on journalists and their sources.”RSF fully supports the criticism of the proposed legislation expressed by Australian organizations that represent the media and journalists. to go further Concerted drive by democracies to circumvent encryptionAustralia’s initiative is unfortunately not an isolated one. In June, the French and British governments agreed on a joint plan of action that would prioritize the fight against terrorism over the right to online privacy. They agreed to “work together to ensure that data and content of communications can be rapidly accessed for law enforcement across borders, wherever it is stored.” Again, RSF is concerned about potential abuses and the impact on the protection of journalists and their sources.RSF supported an initiative by more than 80 organizations and individuals in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States, who sent a letter to their respective governments on 30 June urging them to respect the use of encryption in messages.Australia is ranked 19th out of 180 countries in RSF’s 2017 World Press Freedom Index. The return of running backs junior Joe McKnight and redshirt junior Allen Bradford was a welcome sight Wednesday for a USC team still dealing with a spate of injuries. Both McKnight and Bradford had been held out earlier with lingering injuries from Saturday’s game against Oregon. But the Trojans’ two leading rushers both ran Wednesday and are on track to play against Arizona State.Back from injury · Although he said his ankle and hamstring were still sore, running back Joe McKnight returned to the practice field Wednesday along with Allen Bradford, who is recovering from a knee injury. – Mike Lee | Daily TrojanMcKnight had been battling soreness in his ankle and hamstring earlier in the week.“It’s still a little sore, but I think it’s better for me to be out here practicing with the team,” McKnight said.Bradford had also been struggling with a knee injury, but said he felt fine after getting warmed up on Wednesday.“I couldn’t cut that hard to get upfield, but I think by tomorrow I’m gonna be alright,” Bradford said. The running backs will be needed against an Arizona State defense that ranks fourth in the country in run defense. Last week against Cal, the Sun Devils held the Golden Bears to 57 yards rushing on 30 carries.“They swarm as a defense, but we’re ready for that,” Bradford said.Although the two USC ball carriers have bounced back this week, senior tight end Anthony McCoy appears unable to play on Saturday. He sat out practice Wednesday in street clothes and is still too sore to run.“I can’t imagine he’s going to bounce back in these last couple of days,” USC coach Pete Carroll said.uAlthough the USC defense came under fire this week, the Trojans’ offense is also looking for answers heading into the final four games of the season.“We played just as bad as the defense played,” McKnight said of last week’s game. “It’s a team effort, and we lost as a team.”Quarterbacks coach and playcaller Jeremy Bates said he was happy with the team’s performance in the first half against Oregon. But after falling behind, the Trojans emphasized the passing game, a decision that Bates said he regrets.“We have to stay balanced and not try to force big plays,” Bates said. “You can’t start pressing too early, and looking back I thought we pressed too early. If we had stayed with the first-half game plan, I think we would have been better off.”uThe health status of many USC defenders is still up in the air at this point in the week. After Carroll said Tuesday that junior linebacker Malcolm Smith would not be able to play this week, the junior participated in non-contact drills on Wednesday.Smith faces an uphill battle to play against Arizona State, but Carroll said he may have spoken too early about his availability.“After seeing him today, maybe I was wrong,” Carroll said. “He came out here and got some work done.”Junior defensive end Everson Griffen sat out of practice and remains questionable for Saturday. Freshman linebacker Jarvis Jones will not be able to play against the Sun Devils, according to Carroll.
An unidentified motorcyclist was struck and killed on Interstate 95 early Saturday by a City of Lauderhill police cruiser that was being driven by officers who had been chasing a stolen car from Broward County in Palm Beach County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman.Lieutenant Yanko Reyes says the officers were attempting to enter the grassy shoulder near Mile Marker 91, which is near the Palm Beach County/Martin County line and below the Hobe Sound exit, while approaching a car that was stopped in the area, when they struck the motorcycle. The motorcycle driver, described only as an Asian male, was taken to Martin South Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The incident started when Lauderhill Police received an alert from the Boca Raton Police Department about a car that had been stolen in Boca and had subsequently been located in Lauderhill.Officers found the car following a second vehicle that also been reported stolen, according to Reyes. When they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the second car, a pursuit started onto I-95, but was called off soon after entering Palm Beach County.Reyes says the officers continued driving, looking for an exit, when they noticed a vehicle on the right grass shoulder immediately before the collision happened. The case is still under investigation.

The CEO launched the company to capture this spirit of intelligent discourse and expose it to the wider web community. Other interesting features include enhanced privacy settings, comment feeds, embedable widgets, search term tracking and perhaps the most groundbreaking feature – what Fishkin calls “branded community comments”. Communities and publishers will soon invite users to contribute to relevant Reframe It conversations in roving groups across the web. One of Fishkin’s earliest partners is UK-based financial community Interactive Investor. In addition to helping Interactive Investor generate real time comments on stocks and market indicators within its own site, Reframe It also helps the company monetize group conversations even when they’re on external pages. Through community-specific sidebar advertising, Fishkin has found a way to generate revenue for publishers outside of the confines of a domain. As feeds cannibalize advertising revenue, new revenue generation like Reframe It becomes an increasing need for publishers. To test the service visit reframeit.com. K-pop star Jung Joon-young convicted of gang rape, spycam crimes Neymar #11 of Barcelona heads for the net in the first half against Juventus during the International Champions Cup 2017 on July 22, 2017 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Elsa/Getty Images/AFPHe has dazzled Rio’s imposing Maracana and Barcelona’s storied Camp Nou, but it’s Guingamp’s humble 17,000-capacity Stade du Rouduorou, tucked away in sleepy Brittany, which on Sunday greets Neymar, the world’s most expensive footballer. With the mundanity of transfer paperwork finally resolved, the 25-year-old Brazilian magician will line up for Paris Saint-Germain for the first time since his mind-boggling 222 million euro ($261 million) move from Barcelona.ADVERTISEMENT “But the people here are not talking about Neymar. The people here support their team.”It will be a major culture shock for Neymar in a town which has a population of just 7,000 and is best known for its annual Breton dance showcase, the Saint Loup Festival which draws visitors from around the world. However, that’s not to say that Guingamp do not have football pedigree. They were French Cup winners in 2009 and 2014 and last season beat PSG 2-1 in the corresponding league fixture, the capital city club’s second defeat in four visits to Guingamp since their hosts were promoted in 2013.Furthermore, former Chelsea and Ivory Coast star Didier Drogba spent a season at the club in 2002/2003.ADVERTISEMENT “We could have filled a stadium of 40,000 seats with no problem at all,” said Guingamp president Bertrand Desplat whose club budget is an eighth of what PSG paid for Neymar.“Remember the star of the show is going to be Neymar and for us we want to welcome this very special player and his team in the best conditions possible.”Journalists from far and wide are expected for the game — the ground’s press tribune, built to hold 80 people, has been extended to cater for 350.A total of 145 stewards will be on duty at the ground — 30 more than usual.1,200km away, Barca start new eraMeanwhile, French media speculated over who in the expensively-assembled PSG team will make way for Neymar.Le Parisien suggested it will be Javier Pastore, the Argentine star who was the first major signing after PSG were bought by their ambitious Qatari owners.“After first giving up his No.10 shirt, will he (Pastore) now give him (Neymar) his place in the team?” Le Parisien asked of the player who took up the No.10 shirt after Zlatan Ibrahimovic left for Manchester United last season, only to hand it to the Brazilian this summer.“Neymar will start on the left at the cost of Pastore.”Sports daily L’Equipe saw things differently, though. LATEST STORIES “Neymar — the football version,” ran their headline on Saturday in a light-hearted reference to how the most expensive transfer in football history has dominated news despite Neymar not yet having kicked a ball in anger.“A trio of Neymar, Pastore and Angel di Maria will support (striker) Ederson Cavani,” predicted L’Equipe. The match in Guingamp kicks-off at 1900GMT.An hour later, and around 1,200km further south, Barcelona will start their first competitive match without Neymar by facing bitter rivals Real Madrid in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup.Barca’s scattergun approach to finding a replacement for Neymar has so far been unsuccessful with bids for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele of Borussia Dortmund rebuffed.Gerard Deulofeu was handed Neymar’s role alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez up front in Monday’s 5-0 friendly win over Chapecoense on his return to the club after spells at Everton and AC Milan. And the Spanish international took his chance with a goal and two assists in just 45 minutes on the field. Top seed Roger Federer will challenge for a ninth Halle Open title after reaching the Wimbledon warm-up event final with a 6-4, 7-6(5) victory over rising Russian talent Karen Khachanov on Saturday. The 18-times grand slam champion, who captured the Australian Open, Indian Wells and Miami titles this year, skipped the entire claycourt season to improve his chances of winning a record eighth title at the All England Club.Despite a shock exit from Stuttgart on his comeback last week, Federer has improved in Halle and has not lost a set. He will now play the winner of the other semi-final between Frenchman Richard Gasquet and local favourite Alexander Zverev. The pair traded breaks in the first two games but Federer made amends by grabbing a second one to restore his advantage and clinch the first set on his second set point. The Swiss lured Khachanov to the net on several occasions, including at 4-4 in the second set and the Russian dumped a forehand volley into the net to give Federer two break points. But instead of serving out the set, the top seed was broken again and the Russian even held two set points at 6-5 before the world number five recovered and forced a tiebreak. He converted his first match point to reach an 11th Halle final.

He thrives in those situations.”Unai Emery should bring him in from the cold. But he won’t.”If he plays Ozil and they win, he has to keep playing him, and the manager doesn’t want that. Urban Meyer. It’s not something football related.Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated wrote this feature on the state of Urban Meyer’s Ohio State football program, published today. The story talks about Meyer’s mindset heading into the season, why he likes that Michigan and Jim Harbaugh have been all over the news (and his team hasn’t) and more. The thing the 52-year-old three-time national champion is most-excited about, though, is something away from the gridiron. It’s family related.Meyer’s oldest daughter, Nicki, and her husband, Corey (a graduate assistant for Ohio State) announced earlier this summer that they’re expecting their first child in December. From SI.com:The biggest smile on Meyer’s face Monday—even bigger than when he found out Ohio State got commitments from two top receivers for the 2017 class—came when he was asked about becoming a grandfather. His daughter, Nicki, and her husband, Buckeyes staff member Corey Dennis, are expecting their first child in December. “Mama’s feet haven’t touched the ground now,” Meyer said of his wife, Shelley. “She’s out of her mind excited.”By the baby’s birth, it’ll be clear if the hushed optimism around the Buckeyes translates into loud results like in 2014. Imagine the grin on Grandpa Meyer’s face in December if the uneventful off-season translates into a quiet juggernaut on the field. At first glance, the talent is certainly there for that scenario to unfold.Nicki and Corey posted this on Instagram earlier this summer, announcing the news. You can bet on that kid being into football.Ohio State opens its 2016 season on Sept. 3 against Bowling Green at Ohio Stadium.
