Ticket turmoil as Donegal child left without bus seat before new term

first_imgA Donegal County Councillor has slammed Bus Eireann after a Donegal school was forced to tell parents that the bus operator had no capacity to take their child. It leaves the student’s family having to make alternative travel arrangements at the eleventh hour after their child was refused a concessionary ticket on the school bus this term. The student, who lives in Castlefinn, attends Deele College in Raphoe. Cllr Gary Doherty said the situation was ‘absolutely disgraceful’ and it was ‘no way to treat any child or parent ahead of the return to school’.He told Donegal Daily: “It leaves the parents in limbo now because some students have already started returning to school this weeks and it gives them a logistical nightmare.“It is not fair on any student to be treated in this way because the family were to be told that Bus Eireann didn’t have the capacity to take the child from Castlefinn to the school in Raphoe.“It is totally out of order and absolutely disgraceful,” he added. “I will be making contact with the School Transport Office today (Tues) and I will also be contacting the Minister for Education (Joe McHugh), who has overall responsibility for school transport and I will be outlining to him my utter disgust at this situation. “That mother had to contact me on Monday evening and no family, a family who are only trying to send their child to school, should ever be treated in this manner.“We must get to the bottom of this so it does not happen again.”Ticket turmoil as Donegal child left without bus seat before new term was last modified: August 26th, 2019 by Shaun KeenanShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more

(Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images)Various court documents from the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal have been released, and they reveal how much Penn State coaches knew about the abused committed by the former Nittany Lions defensive coordinator before the story broke in 2011. In a deposition of Mike McQueary, the former Penn State quarterback and coach who witnessed Sandusky assaulting a 10-year old boy in 2002, he revealed that former defensive coordinator Tom Bradley was “not shocked” when hearing about what he had seen, because he was aware of previous allegations against Sandusky. Bradley, who is now at UCLA, told McQueary that in the 1990s, Greg Schiano also witnessed Sandusky “doing something to a boy in the shower.”mcqueary 1mcqueary 2mcqueary 3mcqueary 4Bradley coached in various roles at Penn State from 1979 to 2011. HEDLEY WERE ALLEGEDLY INVESTIGATED FOR DRUGGING UNDERAGE CONCERTGOER

first_img Login/Register With: LEAVE A REPLY Cancel replyLog in to leave a comment This week, long-running Canadian pop band Hedley have been ousted from the Junos and lost a number of contracts over allegations of sexual misconduct with fans as young as 14. In a statement, the band chalked up their behaviour to “a lifestyle that incorporated certain rock and roll clichés.” However, rumours of their alleged misdeeds go all the way back to their early days. A story has now resurfaced regarding an alleged police investigation that involved an underage concertgoer being found outside a Hedley concert in London, ON, who had been drugged and possibly raped in 2005.Rob Bazinet worked at London’s beloved all-ages venue the Embassy for 11 years, serving as its general manager until the venue burned down in 2009. At the time, Bazinet was so synonymous with the venue that he earned the nickname Embassy Rob. (He has since taken the surname Houde through marriage and now works as a licensed security officer.)Speaking on the phone with Exclaim!, Bazinet recalled vivid details about an unnerving Hedley performance at the Embassy when the group were first starting out. The show — which took place on September 18, 2005 (as confirmed by a Web Archive capture of the band’s official website) — was part of the band’s first cross-Canada tour after Jacob Hoggard took third place on Canadian Idol. At the time, the lineup for Hedley included Hoggard alongside guitarist Dave Rosin, bassist Tommy Mac and drummer Chris Crippin.“All day, they were jerks to everybody,” Bazinet recalls. “The way they treated women and fans and even the bar staff was horrendous.” Advertisement Advertisement Facebook Advertisement Twitterlast_img read more
